«Good sources of protein and fiber are grain legumes, which are increasingly recommended as part of one's daily diet in order to promote health and well-being.»
The World Health Organization (1) recommends a diet including proteins in an amount of 10 to 15 % of daily energy intake. French consumers generally eat enough or even too much protein in terms of quantity, but this protein is primarily of animal origin.
This is why grain legumes, including dry peas, which are good sources of protein, are increasingly recommended as part of the diet in order to promote general well-being and reduce the risks of disease. Additionally they are low in sodium while offering an excellent source of soluble and insoluble fiber, complex carbohydrates, B vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, iron and potassium.
